Experimental Animation Ver.3

This version I enhanced the contrast of the animation to try and bring out the illustrations more and define the colours. I think it makes the whole effect generally too dark. I will take it into after effects and try playing around with the colour levels.

Experimental Animation Ver.2

With this edit I added edge work and put a pinch hole distortion effect onto the carrousel 1/2 way through. I really like this effect and think it gives a much more 'experimental' feel to the animation.

Experimental Animation Ver.1

This is the 2nd edit after importing my animation raw. I added a 'aged' effect at the beginning and to parts where the carrousel stops. I'm not happy with the lighting in it- some parts are over lit. I will try and play around with this in after effects.

11 Second Final Animation

I've finished my final animation and I'm alot happier with the second half where I feel the animation and flow is much better and less stiff.

11 Second Update

I've been in the studio all day and here is an update for the 11 Second animation.



I'm really happy with it and think by adding more frames between it creates a much nicer flow to how the overal animation looks. I feel also I'm getting quicker at animating through this practice and remembering a lot of shorcuts and not being so precious which looks better in this animation style.

11 Second Update

Here is the first half of my 11 Second animation.



So far I'm happy with how it looks visually but people have commented it looks more like a animatic- As I described in my previous blog this is the effect and style I wanted my 11 Second to be in so it is quite punchy and comical. On the other hand, now I'm changing my mind half way through, as I do with most of my work. On viewing other people's work they have a much busier, and three dimensional feel to what they've done which I feel mine lacks. I think now I've come so far working in the studio all week I should carry on. PURSUE!!

Inspiration for 11 Second

At the start of this documentary, in the opening credits, is a small animation of a tall man done in black ink. I really like this style and want to not mimic, but create a similar feel to my 11 Second animation, but modernized.

11 Second Club Animatic

Here is a animatic for the 11 Second Club brief showing my initial ideas I drew on post it notes for the dialogue.

The scene is set at a circus and the 11 seconds see the ring master catch a clown red handed in the act of stealing his prized elephant, Nelly.

On watching this animatic back; I think to give the ring master more reason to accuse the clown of elephant theft, and to be generally more humorous, I will depict the elephant squeezed into a tiny clown car looking rather bewildered and squashed.

The characters, aesthetically, I want to be very silhouette like, block colours only showing a few facial features and important clothing items to depict and represent who they are. For example the clowns nose will be very poignant and the ring master's mustache and bow tie.
