These are turn arounds I have designed for my characters in my animation 'The Charmed Rose'.

These are some dresses I have designed for Miguel and Tom's animation- Dark Descent.

Thought machine concept sketchings

Spring Fan Machine

This machine works through a series of fans.

The top compartment works via a vacum which intakes the thoughts and idea clouds, processes and compacts them into a series of taps and test tubes at the bottom of the machine.

Projector Machine

This machine works by collecting the thoughts and ideas in a central triangular fan compressor which is then blows like a projector to expose them on a sheet on the far right so they are visable.

Intestinal Machine

This machine works by taking the thoughts into a bowl at the top of the device, which are then worked through the machines series of tubes which resemble a human intestinal process. By the end of the tubes the thoughts and ideas are compressed and drip out a tap into the desired holding device. The machine is supported on wooden boards and shoes as this is all Kernel can provide.

Turbo Wind-machine

This machine, like the others, again takes in ideas and thoughts through the top fan. The taps sorrounding this are used to adjust compression and pressure gages. Dials and panels on the machines front indicate machines specs.

Final Year Work

In this final year I'm aiming to work on developing my own animation whilst co-working with other animators to help design and finish theirs. I'm working With Miguel Mitchell Da Silva on Dark Decent and Olly Skillman-Wilson on Kernal. For both these projects I will be doing prop and concept design work and development. I will try and develop my animation as far as possible in terms of design and at least basic animation. One of the main issues with my animation I discovered through feedback was there were points in the story the audience did not understand and couldn't comprehend so I plan through tutorials, script and story board meetings and discussions I can resolve this.

Few Concept Bits for Negotiated Brief

Here are some concept idea pieces i've done.

I collected papers from the day of the royal wedding so have loads laying around- here I traced over one picking out the fine lines and main detail; a lot like how our rota scope animation will be constructed. We're planning to play around with colours too.

Here I over exposed a scanned photo from the papers wedding review and in doing so lost a lot of minor detail to the faces of William and Kate which I drew back in slightly more characterized.

Negotiated Brief Development.

Since this morning my colleague and asscociate Thomas Gameson has explained his negotiated brief idea in detail with me and we're thinking about colaborating and working together. (Because it is such a awesome idea.) He showed me the following video:

I absolutely love this style. We then had the idea after both watching the recent Royal Wedding street party video shot on sight in Falmouth on Marlborough Street to rotoscope/draw/paint/sketch a video in the same style:

Negotiated Brief

For my negotiated brief I want to work on a cut out style animation, learning may be to use 'Toon Boom' and develop my skills as a stop motion artist.

I want my characters to be in the style of Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 – 1901). He was a post impressionist an best known for his bright lively images of the Parisian theatrical world.

Colour Palette

This is the colour palette for my Post Production backgrounds.

Post Production (under construction)

Here are the first stages of my post production video. The first is a basic key out and overlay on a imported background, the second I changed and played around with the colour balance to make the rose look real against the background and fit in with the sorroundings.

Digital Painting

Here is a still of my digitally painted background so far. I started and I hated it straight away. I still don't like the asthetic but I think I will carry on to see the finished look. It is taking HOURS! I HATE DIGITAL PAINTING!!

Filming 90 Second Silent Film

On Wednesday we filmed our 90 second silent film. It went really well I'm completely happy with the results. Currently the footage is being edited.

We met around 12pm, changed into costume, the boys slicked over their hair, Tom shaved some handle bars and a tash onto his face, I did cheesey Charlie Chaplin style make up and we started filming. Unfortunately it started raining half way through and we all got soaked- but like true animators, we embraced the misfortune and perused. We filmed all day and up until day light was none.

Problems that arose and how we tackled them- initially it was just the danger of the rain on the camera but we got an umbrella and managed to keep the rain off with Christian camera assisting. Then we realized we didn't have permission to film outside a specific hotel we'd found nearl Gylly Beach but I went in and asked at reception (dressed like a millionare's wife) the addressed me as 'Madam' and told me it was 'perfectly fine.' Also it was a problem when we started loosing light (with nights drawing in by 5) but we managed to squeeze everything in luckily.
